“First you may have seen the ads or the illegal email spam being sent out to thousands of web developers and bloggers called SafetyWing. You should know that THEY ARE NOT AN INSURANCE COMPANY and really just some hip marketing from tech bros in Norway who now pretend they are from California. The real insurance partner is called WorldTrips, a brand of Tokio Marine from Japan, with a very long history of scamming customers.”

    from the BBB site:

“This is a Scam!I had to rush my mother-in-law to the emergency room one night as she was having difficulty breathing. The hospital kept her there for 4 hrs and released her later to us. The Hospital billed us a whopping $16,000 (+incidentals) and this scam of an Insurance company refused to pay. Their excuse is that the patient was not “Admitted” and was only kept under observation. How does one differentiate between the two? Do you think patients will be aware of this subtle difference? Apparently the policy only covers if the patient is admitted when taken in for emergency. How does the common man know if the patient is admitted or not when he rushes her to the hospital? She was kept there for 4 hours and later released. What is the purpose of getting these insurances if the policy can find wiggle room to work its way out of its commitment to pay?? It’s just a big SCAM. DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS!!! GO somewhere else. Take your business elsewhere. These are just crooks robbing poor folks in broad daylight. Of course my mother-in-law will not pay a single ***** as she cant. They can try and arrest her in *****. The whole purpose of taking insurance is to we are covered if there are emergencies. What a crock of crap!”
